ELEMENTAL at Palmisano Park

Our cast dances with bamboo poles on the open dock on the pond of Stearns Quarry

ELEMENTAL: Spectacles of Earth, Air and Water premieres Thursday – Saturday Oct 5-7 at 7:30pm in Palmisano Park (27th St & Halsted Ave). All performances are FREE and open to the public through Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks. (In case of poor weather, a rain date is set for Sunday October 8th at 7:30pm).

Through the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks, the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events’s 50×50 Neighborhood Arts Project and the 11th Ward Alderman Patrick D. Thompson, Erica Mott Productions presents Elemental: Spectacles of Earth, Air and Water, a community-driven performance event. Presented in and around the pond of the former Stearns Quarry in the northwest corner of Henry C. Palmisano Nature Park, ELEMENTAL will celebrate the history and future of Bridgeport through the lens of three organic elements that shaped industry, immigration, lore and daily living in Chicago’s oldest neighborhood.

Erica Mott has engaged community members from across the 11th Ward to participate and contribute to the ambulatory multi-media performance, which includes live singing, original storytelling and texts, music, contemporary dance, projection mapping and the lighting of lanterns made by students from Ward and Armour Elementary Schools. Listen to our interview with 88.3FM WZRD Chicago to hear more about our engagement with communities, sites and history through our site-specific performances Cowboys and Vikings: Trials and Trails and ELEMENTAL!
