Brandon Avery

Brandon Avery (performer) spent 12 years of self-instruction in urban dance technique until he joined ClearVision Dance Team in 2006. Though he completed a major in Educational Studies and a primary minor in Psychology at Knox College, he extensively explored opportunities of his Dance Studies secondary minor. Upon matriculation, Avery took his first formal dance technique course, Beginning Modern, and thereafter studied numerous genres of dance (i.e. jazz, musical theatre, kick/pom/stunt, classical ballet, modern, bachata, liturgical, contemporary, flamenco, site-specific, improvisation, cumbia, Afro-contemporary, Afro-Caribbean dancehall, West African) from artists and companies such as Jeremy Lindberg of the University of Oklahoma, Dereque Whiturs of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Joel Hall Dancers, and Gus Giordano Dance School.

Avery has performed for The Shrine of Chicago, IL; Joel Hall Dancers; Nejla Yatkin, The J-Monet Dancers, The Orpheum Theater of Galesburg, IL, and Red Clay Dance. He has choreographed works for the Tha Pope, Professional Theatre & Dance Youth Academy, Thornwood High School Cygnets Dance Team, and Red Clay Dance Youth Ensemble. Currently, he co-directs the Red Clay Dance Youth Ensemble, and teaches at Joel Hall Dancers & Center, Austin Lo’Ren Dance Academy, DanceRoom Chicago, and PurePoles Fitness.
