How to Get to Calumet for Trials and Trails

  • FREE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE! This free service is available from Northerly Island Visitors Center at 1521 S. Linn White Drive (6:30pm) to Steelworkers Park at 87th at Lake Michigan and back (9:30pm) each night of the performance. To reserve your seat, click here:

  • DRIVE AND CARPOOL! It’s a straight shot down Lake Shore Drive to Steelworkers Park! Follow these 3 easy steps to find the site-specific performance of Cowboys and Vikings Across Chicago at the Steelworkers Park on Thurs-Fri, Sept 16th + 17th at 7:30pm.

1. From Southbound Lake Shore Drive, turn east (left) onto E. 87th St.

2. Keep to the right of the concrete barriers, carry on straight to the cul-de-sac (approx. 1 block). This is the entrance to Steelworkers Park. (If you are driving, there is FREE street parking on 87th Street or in the cul-de-sac at the entrance of Steelworkers Park).

3. When facing the lake, the performance will take place to the north (left) of the park entrance. You will see 30’ high walls that span the length of the park. Follow the path towards these walls. (approx. 20 yards).

Bleacher seating will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own chair or blanket and a picnic to enjoy during the performance!

  • TAKE THE METRA! It’s easy to get to Calumet from downtown. Catch the Metra Electric Line at Millennium Station and ride in comfort to the performance of Cowboys and Vikings Across Chicago at the Steelworkers Park. The site-specific performance is less than a 10 minute walk from the Metra Electric station.

  • Take the Bus! Hop on the J14 bus and cruise down to Calumet, hop off at 87th and Jeffery, then make the easy transfer to the 87 bus that will take you directly to the performance. Get off at 87th and Buffalo stop and walk less than 5 minutes to the entrance of the Steelworkers Park.

  • Carpool! It is a straight shot South on Lake Shore Drive to Cowboys and Vikings Across Chicago at the Steelworkers Park on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 16th + 17th. Free street parking is available less than a 10 minute walk from the site-specific performance!
