John Boesche

John Boesche (video design) began his work in media design in 1981 and has created media and scenic designs for more than 120 professional productions. His Broadway credits include Beyond Glory at Roundabout Theatre, directed by Robert Falls, and The Glass Menagerie at Roundabout Theatre, directed by Frank Galati. Regionally, his work has been seen at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Geffen Playhouse (Los Angeles), Goodman Theatre (Chicago), Lookingglass Theatre (Chicago), Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, New York Shakespeare Festival (NYC), Royal George Theatre (Chicago), Seattle Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare at the Folger (Washington D.C.), Steppenwolf Theatre (Chicago), Theater On The Square (San Francisco) and Victory Gardens (Chicago) among others.

Designs for opera have been seen at Barbican Theatre Centre (London), Brooklyn Academy of Music, Canadian Opera Company (Toronto), Dallas Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Lyra Ottawa, Opera Pacifica, Opera Theatre of St Louis, Portland Opera, Salt Lake Opera, San Francisco Opera, Theatre de la Monnaie (Brussels), Washington Opera (D.C.), and Vancouver Opera among others.

Projection design accompanying the performance of music includes The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Eos Orchestra (New York), and The Ravinia Festival Chicago among others.

Mr. Boesche received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle award in 2011,

Joseph Jefferson Special Awards for projection design in 2011, 2005, and 1989, and a Merritt Award For Excellence In Design And Collaboration in 1997.  He is Chair of Digital Media for Live Performance at the University of Illinois.
